Written Voters' Pamphlet Statement Submitted by Candidate

My name is Luke Williams. Please Vote for me on September 20.

My administration will be based on three principles: accountability, political integrity, and fiscal discipline. Former administrations have provided the public with increased taxes and few solutions to the problems of providing for basic civic needs. I will work to end City Hall's current guiding principle that "the end justifies the means." I intend to publish the fiscal and performance audits of all major city departments and use this information to reestablish fiscal accountability.

The information published by the city auditor's office can be improved in order provided a clear analysis of the fiscal effects of the impact of current revenue forecast and the subsequent impacts on the municipal government.

My goal is a balanced, fair, flexible and transparent, economically sound tax system. A system which promotes confidence in our elected officials and our government employees.

Transportation: I support transportation options l will actively work towards expediting the permits necessary facilitate the construction of the monorail and sound transit sites. In addition I would seek to create a multidivisional motor pool program which would allow city of Seattle and Seattle public school district employees to rideshare and utilize the same pool of government vehicles. This type of collaboration will take single use vehicles off our roads and potentially lower the cost of fleet maintenance for both the city and school district. I will facilitate and not dictate the municipal governing process. I will ask the tough questions, and insist on realistic financially sound plans and hold the responsible agencies accountable to get the job of transportation management done.

Human Services: I would like to establish a non profit program to facilitate a common health insurance program that is available to all residents of the city of Seattle. This pilot program would focus on preventive care. I also support the creation of municipal polices which would lead to the legalization of medical marijuana.

Public Safety and Law Enforcement: The prevention of crime is just as important as our reaction to crime. I will advocate for polices which allow for the diversion of first time non violent offenders. I will also seek to develop commercial partnerships which offer offenders a second economic chance at entering civil society.
