2005 Seattle Elections Primary Elections Voters' Guide Robert Rosencrantz
Video Voters Guide Statement of Candidate Click Here to View the Written Voters' Pamphlet Statement Submitted by Candidate Let's Get Seattle Fiscally Fit Robert Rosencrantz will bring energetic leadership to the City Council to make Seattle more affordable for middle-class families. Robert brings a 25-year track record of getting things done in business, government, and non-profit organizations. He and his wife have built two successful businesses from scratch, and Robert has played a direct role in saving over 1,000 affordable homes for working class families and individuals. Transportation Rebuild the Viaduct above ground to save a billion dollars or more Robert supports rebuilding the Viaduct above ground because it is practical, affordable and critical to our trade based economy. Let's spend a billion dollars less that we'd pay for a trade based economy. Let's spend a billion dollars less than we'd pay for a tunnel, and use it to build sidewalks and maintain our streets and bridges. Robert will provide the needed leadership. Merge our numerous transportation agencies to create a unified, affordable mass transit system As a leader of the community group that came up with a plan to replace the 520 Bridge and link it to light rail, Robert has learned first-hand that our multiple transportation agencies aren't working together. Robert supports merging our `alphabet soup' of transportation planning into one agency that will create a unified mass transit system, save money and solve our traffic problems. Build a city-wide, low-cost broadband system to allow all Seattleites to have affordable access to the Internet. The Internet is becoming as integral to our daily lives as the phone and computer. Robert supports building a low cost city-wide broadband system so people can work at home instead of commuting while encouraging economic development in more affordable parts of the city. Schools Keep schools open by building affordable homes that draw families with children back to Seattle Earlier this year, one of Robert's four children faced having her school closed. Robert believes the City can help solve our school crisis by turning around the enrollment decline caused by families being priced out of Seattle's housing market. Robert will use his experience as a housing official to build affordable homes to attract families with children back to our city so we don't have to continue to face the choice of program cuts or school closures. Endorsed by: Governor Dan Evans, Honorable Phil Talmadge, State Senator Erik Poulsen, State Representative Jim McIntire, State Representative Joe McDermott, Bob & Sarah Alsdorf, Bob & Juanita Watt, 34th District Democrats, The Alki Foundation.
